PCSI 2010

Santa Fe, New Mexico will be the host of the 37th conference on the physics and chemistry of surfaces and interfaces. This conference is devoted to achieving a fundamental understanding of the physical, chemical, biological, structural, optical, magnetic and electrical properties of surfaces and interfaces. These studies include characterization of growth processes, interfacial phenomena, transport and the structure and influence of defects.

The conference will focus on surface/interface issues related to:

  • Multiferroic materials
  • Epitaxial oxide heterostructures
  • Graphene
  • Novel theoretical approaches
  • III-Nitride materials
  • Nanostructures fro electronics and photonics
  • Organic/inorganic interfaces
  • Spintronics
  • High-k gate dielectrics on semiconductors
  • Physical and electronic structure of semiconductors
  • Metal contacts to new semiconductors
  • Carrier transport and optical properties

Young Scientists Awards will be offered constituting financial assistance to students, especially students presenting papers.

Speakers at the 2010 conference will include:

  • Charles Ahn, Yale University – Ferroelectricity of Thin Films
  • Eva Y. Andrei, Rutgers University – Scanning Tunneling Spectroscopy of Graphene
  • David Awschalom, University of California, Santa Barbara – Spins in Diamond
  • David Cahill, University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana – Ultralow Thermal Conductivity Materials, and Particularly the Role of Interfaces
  • David G. Castner, University of Washington – Characterization of Biomolecule Interactions with Surfaces
  • Frank Glas, CNRS – Semiconductor Nanowires

PCSI 2010 will be held January 10-14, 2010 at the La Fonda Hotel, E. San Francisco Street, Santa Fe, NM 87501. For registration and more information you can visit their web site at http://www.pcsiconference.org.
